contact Situation of an element which is under the direct fire of the enemy weapons. 1. Make contact: action, for the lead units, of opening fire against the enemy or of infiltrating his battle position in order to collect information, hold, eventually capture, the key points useful for the continuation of operations. 2. Identify contact: determining the points and areas where the enemy is resisting the actions against him as well as the gaps in his battle position. 3. Lose contact: not realizing that the enemy has disengaged, or, realizing it, not being able of remaking contact. Break contact: disengaging from the enemy.
