The ability also pertains to the possibility, for a force, to have the required capability, to accomplish a determined task, in a timely manner (qualitative notion) at the given place (availability of assets, logistical level. ) Specific arrangement in order to accomplish a mission defined in general terms. The ability is expressed in terms of competence, without refering to a precise size of assets. The abilities of a unit are thus defined by the know-how of its personnel and by the possibilities of its major equipment. This notion implies the existence of capabilities.
