Kami-mukae

relig. Welcoming or summoning the kami. The first element in the structure of a typical festival. Specifically it means the summoning of a kami to a himorogi, that is, to a place which is not the usual "seat" of the kami. In some cases the call (keihitsu) accompanies the recitation of norito and is a sonorous long "o" sound. Cf. kami-okuri A Popular Dictionary of Shinto (Brian Bocking)
