stone	Term used for any gemstone.
strap ring	A ring, usually leather or pliable metal, that looks like a watch strap without the face.
stretch bracelet	A type of bracelet that stretches over the hand and fits snuggly to the wrist. These bracelets feature links that are usually connected with elastic and have no closures as they can adapt to any size. Another way to make these bracelets is with contracting hinges that flex and closes as needed. The latter type was popular during the 40s and 50s with rhinestone costume jewelry.
striation	A parallel scratch, groove or line on the surface or interior of a gemstone.
sub-dial	A sub-dial is a smaller dial set within the watch's main dial. Common sub-dials are used as stopwatches or timers, date windows or even altimeters.

table cut	The simplest type of step cut which is very flat with a large table. Often used for seals or for men's rings.

talisman	A trinket or piece of jewelry thought to be a protection against evil.
tango chain	A rope chain that features a twisted design that reflects light as the piece moves or is moved. It is called a “tango” chain because light resembles a dancer.

tanzanite	A transparent vaiety of zoisite, used as a gem.
taper earrings	Also called a stretcher earring, these earrings are used while stretching one's ear to a smaller gauge.
tapered	Refers to a piece of jewelry or a portion of jewelry that is larger at one end and gradually gets smaller towards the other.
tapered hoops	A type of hoop earring that features a metal that gets gradually smaller or larger towards one end. Many pieces will start off thin towards the top and gradually get thicker or fatter towards the bottom.
